About Me:
Lee Iwan was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois USA.

Currently live and work in Leon, Guanajuato Mexico.

Mexico is an unexploited and potentially rich area for economic development and trade for USA and Canada. The logistics, similar cultures and global economic tendencies make me a strong believer that Mexico has a very optimistic future, filled with challenges and rewards for those involved.

I'm involved in international business development and diversification projects involving Mexico and Mexican companies.

Excel in the discovery, marketing and promotion of opportunities. Including the research, identification and development of the appropriate partners in order to close the deal.

Rainmaker. International Deal-maker.

Business experience includes time well spent in the retail, wholesale, service, agricultural and manufacturing industries.

Actively involved in international markets (Latin America and South Asia and Asia Pacific), export sales, imports, marketing and negotiations, and new projects between the USA and Mexico.

Keen to learn and share knowledge with others, active networker with strong C-level business and political network in Central Mexico.

Meeting new people, generating new ideas and questioning the status quo, connecting people and forming personal and business networks, implementing ideas and communicating the process is what gets me out of bed in the morning.

Mexico goes back to "normal" today

Today most private and public schools begin the new 2008 - 2009 year in Mexico.

This means chaos returns to city streets during the rush hours of 7-9 AM and 2-4 PM as families begin the daily commute.

Learning the route, timing of the stop lights, finding the drop off zones, sleepy kids, new Mom's and Dad's unaccustomed to the new routine...it's all crazy, frustrating, full of excitement...and lasts about a week.

Bit of advice. If working in Mexico during this week, modify your commute and travel hours to miss all this. Spend a bit more time at breakfast, or work out of the hotel business center.

Illegal immigration - USA and Mexico

Originally published October 18th, 2006 at Lee Iwan Accumulated Experience

Immigration control is a global challenge, and yet not one developed country has developed a good workable and acceptable legal immigration plan that eliminates illegal immigration.

There are political solutions, and then there are real solutions.

Lee -

Good to find your blog(s) and information here. I agree there are no easy answers and certainly no quick solutions for the immigration situation between the US and Mexico. However, if the US is willing to accept the fact that instant results are not possible, investment in education and infrastructure in Mexico will ultimately pay off handsomely. I believe that strongly. If US investors would look at Mexico with eyes to the future, I believe both nations would gain great benefits. But I don't mean exploitive industrial parks. Mexico cannot compete head to head with Asia for low cost labor, but it can compete in many technical and business areas that benefit from the close proximity to the US and shared cultural values.

I have a home in Cueramaro, although I am currently at our home in Sacramento. I would be very interested to know more about what you are doing and next time I am in the Bajio - getting a chance to meet you.

Hola Lee,

Hi Lee,

I certainly believe this:

"Mexico is an unexploited and potentially rich area for economic development and trade for USA and Canada."

I'd like to have a more detailed article explaining exactly why this is so to send to my contacts. Have you either written such an article or do you know of one?

Best regards,

Michael
